DoD Dine Smart®

DoD Dine Smart is a preferred dining program which generates rebates for the Department of Defense when travelers use their Government Travel Charge Card to pay at participating restaurants. The program operates through Dinova [dinova.com], a dining network with more than 22,000 participating restaurant locations throughout the United States.

Policy

Although the use of DoD Dine Smart restaurants when traveling is not a requirement, use of the Government Travel Charge Card for all expenses, including meals, when TDY/TAD is required by the Joint Travel Regulations (JTR), paragraph 010204.

DoD Dine Smart Traveler Rewards

Through DoD Dine Smart Traveler Rewards [youtube.com, 1:25], an extension of DoD Dine Smart, service members and civilians traveling on official business can sign up to earn reward points for every dollar spent at participating restaurants. With a one-time enrollment in DoD Dine Smart Traveler Rewards, travelers link their travel card to the program. Any time you dine at a participating Dinova restaurant and pay with your travel card, you'll earn points that can be redeemed for gift cards at popular retailers and restaurants. A point is earned for every $1 spent on food and beverage, including tax and tip.

   Use Dinova's mobile app to search 20,000+ participating restaurant locations

3. Dine+Charge

   Use your Travel Card to pay your check – all TDY meals at Dinova restaurants count

   Pay for meals using your Government Travel Charge Card to stay compliant with DoD policy. Rewards are a bonus! Points cannot be awarded retroactively; you must use your Travel Card at the time of the transaction.

4. Earn+Redeem

   Get 1 point for every $1 you spend on your Travel Card at in-network restaurants. Find point totals and available rewards in Dinova's monthly digital statement.

Get the Dinova Mobile App

Download the Dinova mobile app to your personal or DoD-issued device (it's DISA-approved) to quickly find in-network restaurants. The app allows you to filter results by cuisine and proximity, or even by safety protocols such as mask requirements, outdoor seating, curbside takeaway, delivery, drive thru availability, temperature checks, and contactless payment.

The app also provides instant access to Traveler Rewards account status and limited-time opportunities for earning bonus points when available. Travelers can save favorite restaurants for future reference when returning to the same location.
