Section 603 of the FY23 NDAA directs the Secretaries of the Armed Forces to reimburse eligible Armed Forces members the cost of airfare from the member’s permanent duty station (PDS) to their home of record when they are assigned to a PDS in Alaska and travel is authorized by an Officer above the grade of O-5.12/23/2022
UTD for MAP 15-24(I), Clarify Inactive Duty Training (IDT) Outside the Normal Commuting AreaThis item clarifies that allowances paid to Reserve component (RC) members performing IDT outside the normal commuting distance are limited to expenses for travel to and from the IDT location (as identified in JTR, par. 032304-B).3/13/2024
UTD for MAP 14-23(R), Child Care Reimbursement Incident to a Permanent Change of Station (PCS)This item implements a new pilot program pursuant by Section 627 of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year (FY) 2023. In accordance with Section 627, the Secretary of Defense must carry out a pilot program to reimburse a member of the Armed Forces for travel and transportation expenses incurred by a child care provider during a permanent change of station (PCS) when child care is not available at a military child development center at the new permanent duty station (PDS) within 30 days of the Service member’s reporting date.1/30/2024
UTD for MAP 13-25(I), Update ‘Tour Lengths and Tours of Duty Outside the Continental United States (OCONUS)’ JTR Supplement for KoreaThis item updates the Joint Travel Regulations Supplement “Tour Lengths and Tours of Duty Outside the Continental United States (OCONUS)” with updated criteria for Korea in accordance with the February 11, 2025 ASD (M&RA) memorandum “Change to Republic of Korea Tour Length Guidance”. UTD FOR MAP 11-22(R), EXTENDED TLE DUE TO A HOUSING SHORTAGE.PDFIn support of the Secretary of Defense’s initiative on “Taking Care of Our Service Members and Families,” this item introduces a new circumstance under which a temporary lodging expense (TLE) extension may be granted, outlines substantiating data framework, and modifies the eligibility process. Previously, under 37 U.S.C. § 474a, a Service member’s period of TLE at a location could be extended when that location is in an area covered by a Presidential declaration under the Stafford Act, or a military housing area (MHA) experiencing a sudden increase in Service members assigned to the location.10/1/2022
UTD for MAP 111-24(I), CY2025 Dislocation Allowance (DLA) RatesThis item increases the DLA rates based on the basic rate of pay increase of 4.5% in accordance with the FY2025 National Defense Authorization Act. Effective January 1, 2025.1/1/2025
UTD for MAP 109-24(E), Clarify Occasional Lodging Reimbursement for ADTThis item clarifies that Reserve Component (RC) members performing active-duty training (ADT) when no per diem or AEA is payable, in accordance with Joint Travel Regulations (JTR) paragraph 032302-A, may be authorized reimbursement of lodging costs as occasional lodging in accordance with JTR paragraph 020305-A. The intent is to ensure RC members are reimbursed for the cost of Government quarters or Integrated Lodging Program facilities located on the installation during Annual Training and other applicable ADT periods. Any previous reimbursements made under paragraph 032302-A properly excluded per diem. Effective March 18, 2025.3/18/2025
